The Frames Within

Basic geometries form the way light and shadows pass through a window. Using these forms in a larger scale and using them to subdivide a larger shape can create a sense of multiple surfaces on a single window, this means you also get multiple flamings of the view within the one frame. Apart from using shapes to subdivide a window a similar effect can be achieved through the use of textures such as stained glass. Essentially a window can act as a semi opaque wall.

The photograph below shows windows with very deep frames that control the view; also notice that the curtains transform the windows to these semi opaque walls.
